About

Since 2004, Celebrate México Now has been the only independent arts festival spotlighting contemporary Mexico in New York City. Every year, we disrupt the often-narrow definitions of Mexican arts and culture by exploring the way creators are reshaping and reflecting on their identity in the ever-changing global context. As artists constantly face profound uncertainty, we set out to hold a platform to present and remunerate their work. Founded by award-winning curator and producer Claudia Norman, the festival has brought over 500 groundbreaking artists and projects to over 120 of New York’s leading cultural venues across the five boroughs. This citywide partnership network has included The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, New York University and Columbia University, among others.

2023 marks a very special milestone: Our 20th Edition! We are celebrating by offering a program that reflects the rich diversity of Mexican culture, including contemporary Indigenous voices and their connection to ancestral practices, and artists from various regions in Mexico.

Our presenting partners are Baxter Street at CCNY, Center for Book Arts, Greenwich House Music School, LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, Le Poisson Rouge, Museum of the Moving Image, NYU/ Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, The Center for Fiction, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, and World Music Institute.

Celebrate Mexico Now 2023 is made possible thanks to the support of CUNY/Mexican Studies Institute, Howard Gilman Foundation, Mexican Cultural Institute of New York, and our backers around the globe.

Special thanks to our fiscal sponsor The Field.

We are convinced that art is a significant engine for change and we are committed to keep it running. Join us!
